Professor Alexander P. Lin from Harvard Medical School visit WIPM

In November 25, 2019, Professor Alexander P. Lin was invited to give an academic report titled "Clinical Applications of Multinuclear Spectroscopy" at the conference room of Spectrum Building. The report was chaired by Xin Zhou.

Professor Lin is the director of the Center for Clinical Spectroscopy, Department of Radiology, Brigham and Women's Hospital, the assistant Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School. And he got master's degree in Bioengineering and doctoral degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics from California Institute of Technology. In 1997, he worked as Clinical Services and Senior Scientist at the Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Unit at the Huntington Medical Research Institutes. In 2007, he was the doctor of medicine at National Heart, Lung ang Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda. His main research area is the application of ₃₁P and ₁₃C MR and the detection of brain diseases with this technology.

In the report, Professor Lin first explained the existing multinuclear magnetic resonance technology, and introduced the clinical development and application of magnetic resonance imaging. Professor Lin introduced the detection of ₃₁P MRS in leg movement, resting state and the clinical application of ₁₃C magnetic resonance imaging. After that, he introduced the data processing methods used in multinuclear spectroscopy. His lab has identified which neurochemicals differ in brain injury professional athletes.

After the report, Professor Lin had an active communication with the teachers and students in WIPM, which increased our understanding of multinuclear spectroscopy.
