On November 13, 2018, the Academic report "Advanced MRI and Contrast Agents: from Research to Clinics" hosted by Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics (WIPM) was held in Room 425, Building M. Many domestic and foreign experts working in magnetic resonance was invited to attend this meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, professor Mingyuan Gao from Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences introduced their researches on multi-modal molecular probe imaging, such as superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles. Professor David E. Wemmer from University of California, Berkeley introduced the development of 129Xe imaging contrast agents, and illustrated the principle of CEST and HyperCEST. Professor Xin Lou from Chinese PLA General Hospital introduced the challenges of clinical neuroimaging and major current test method, and presented requirements on test methodology for this field. Senior Scientist Giles Santyr from The Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto introduced Pediatric applications of hyperpolarized 129Xe MRI. Professor Peng Huang from Shenzhen University introduced nano-materials which are designed for imaging guided PDT or PTT. Professor Michael T. McMahon from Johns Hopkins University introduced the method for monitoring progression in kidney disease with CEST MRI. Ziyi Wang from Duke University introduced their research progress about using Hyperpolarized 129Xe MRI to obtain quantitative images of pulmonary gas exchange. Finally, professor Xin Zhou showed the research in our institute on hyperpolarized 129Xe lung MRI and application of molecular probes.

This report mainly aimed at the current development of hyperpolarized MRI and contrast agents, and will promote the research of hyperpolarized MRI and molecular imaging in our institute significantly.
