19th National Magnetic Resonance Conference and the 6th Cross-Strait Magnetic Resonance Symposium and 2016 International Workshop on Soild State Nuclear Magnetic Resonance held in Lanzhou University was successfully completed on August 20, 2016. There were more than 400 experts and scholars from different fields attended this meeting. They have presented the latest developments in the fields of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and nuclear quadrupolar resonance (NQR).During the meeting, a Special report reply was held for "Wang Tianjuan spectroscopy Award". At lastProfessor Xin Zhou from WIPM won the prize after the selection of Specialized Committee.

"Wang Tianjuan spectroscopy Award" was established to commemorate Mr. Wang Tianjuan, a famous Chinese physical and the spectral scientist. It is issued every two years and will be given to young scientists under age 45 who has achieved theory or experimental or technology innovation having great contribution to the development of spectroscopy and its application field, such as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), laser magnetic resonance and opticalpumping. In 2009, it was approved as “social forces toset up the science and technology awards”by the Ministry of science and technology and the National Office of Science & Technology Awards.

Professor Xin Zhou has been committed to the research on ultrasensitive magnetic resonance imaging for a long time. From 2004 to 2009, he worked in magnetic resonance in Harvard University,University of California Berkeley&Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory respectively. Since 2009, he has been a professor in the Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2015, the Ultrasensitive Magnetic Resonance Research Group led by Professor Xin Zhou successfully developed China's first set of human lungs hyperpolarized MRI system and lighted up the human lung. The system can get bothstructure and functioninformation of human lungwhich can’t be acquired by traditional methods such as CT, chest X-Ray, and PET.It provides a new scientific instrument and technical method for early diagnosis of major human lung diseases. Compared with traditionally used lung-detection technologies such as computed tomography, the new technology can produce images with noninvasive and nonradioactive methods that visualize defects in the gas exchange function of lungs. The hyperpolarized instrument index has reached the international leading level and was selected 2015 annual Top Ten Technology Events in Hubei Province. According to preliminary statistics, CCTV and more than 10 Central mainstream media have reported the achievement, a total of more than 70 newspapers have carried out the report. Professor Xin Zhou has more than 30 research papers in MRinternational professional journals including MRM、JMRI、NMR Biomed、JMRand is the holder of more than 20 inventionpatents. He is supported by "the Hundred Talents Program" of the Chinese Academy of Sciencesand Ten Thousands of People Plan, outstanding young scholars of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC. He is also awarded the "May 4th Youth Medal"of Hubei Province.
