"Light up" lungs by Ultrasensitive Magnetic Resonance Research Group was selected 2015 annual Top Ten Technology Events in Hubei Province

The results of the selection of 2015 annual Top Ten Technology Events in Hubei Province were announced by Linzhang Wu, the deputy director of science and technology department. "Light up" the lungs by Ultrasensitive Magnetic Resonance Research Group in Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics, CAS, was selected. The selection of 2015 annual Top Ten Technology Events was conducted by the Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Department and Cnhubei, in order to fully demonstrate the scientific and technological innovation results and performance of Hubei province in 2015 and to create a good atmosphere for public opinion of innovation and development.

The Ultrasensitive Magnetic Resonance Research Group led by Professor Xin Zhou successfully developed China's first set of human lungs gas magnetic resonance imaging system and lighted up the human lungs, which were MRI blind before. The system not only can get lung structure information, but also visual study the pulmonary gas exchange function and get clear images of lungs.These can’t be acquired by traditional methods, such as CT, chest X-Ray, PET, as well provides new scientific instruments and technical methods for the early diagnosis of major human lung diseases.

The Ultrasensitive Magnetic Resonance Research Group led by Professor Xin Zhou mainly studies new technologies and methods of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). They research and develop of hyperpolarized instrument, as well explore ultrasensitive MRI and molecular imaging method for chemistry, biomedicine materials and physics. Numbers of masters, doctors and post doctors were trained at the same time research.

Professor Xin Zhou said in an interview with reporters that Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics, CAS, which the Ultrasensitive Magnetic Resonance Research Group belongs to, are working to promote the industrialization of the results currently, in order to achieve the earliest possible clinical applications and make greater contributions for human health and economic development.
