Invited by Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics (WIPM), the Chinese Academy of Science and State Key Laboratory of Magnetic Resonance and Atomic and Molecular Physics, Dr.Yi-Qiao Song from Schlumberger-Doll Research visited WIPM and gave a seminar entitled "Magnetic Resonance of Porous Media" on August 26th, 2011

In his presentation, Dr.Yi-Qiao Song described the applications of low-field NMR in porous media. He introduced the applications of low-field NMR in oil industry via detailed examples, such as the measurements of T1/T2 relaxation and diffusion coefficients in order to distinguish the oil, natural gas and water. In the end, Dr. Song interpreted the "Non-resonant NMR", which his group is being working on, and its potential applications.

The participants show great interest and curiosity to Dr. Song's presentation, and they had warm discussions with Dr. Song on some favorable topics.

Dr. Yi-Qiao Song graduated from Peking University and got the Ph.D. at Northwestern University. After that, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. song worked at the Schlumberger-Doll Research since 1997. Dr. Song has published nearly a hundred papers in established journals, such as Nature, Science, PRL, JMR, etc, and he also owns more than ten patents. Dr. Song has joined a number of international academic organizations: he is a member of American Physical Society and a member of the American Chemical Society, and served as executive members of many international conferences such as ENC, ICMRM, ICMRPM. He is the current Chairman of Overseas Chinese Magnetic Resonance Association. Dr. Song is a famous scientist in the low-field NMR methods, instruments and applications.
